Mountaineering Safety Manual

I. Before Departure​

  Beginners: Choose developed routes (altitude <500m), no solo wild trails. High-altitude (>3,000m): 3+ same-difficulty trips, download offline maps.​

  Must-bring: Non-slip shoes, helmet, trekking poles, layered clothes, phone (route saved), first-aid kit, whistle (3 short+1 long for help). Tell relatives your itinerary.​

  Train endurance; check for diseases before high-altitude trips; sleep 8hrs. Descend if unwell.​

II. During Trip​

  Steep slopes: "Zig-zag" steps on stable rocks. Cross shallow/slow rivers; avoid moss. Watch dead trees, toxic plants.​

  Thunderstorms: Hide low, avoid metals. High temps: Drink often, no noon (12-2PM) hiking. Low temps: Add clothes to prevent hypothermia.​

  Rest 10 mins/hour; stay in team; mark forks.​

III. Emergencies​

  Strains: Cold compress. Altitude sickness: Descend (call 400-810-9995 if severe). Deep wounds: Loosen tourniquet every 30 mins.​

  Lost: Return to forks for maps. No signal: Blow whistle/light triangular fire; signal location if connected.​

IV. After Trip​

  Change wet clothes, soak feet, massage. Eat protein/carbs. Note issues, report route hazards.
