Treadmill Anti-Entrapment Structural Design

Structural design is the core of preventing entrapment in treadmills. It is necessary to address the pain points of hand/foot entrapment, as well as entrapment risks for children and pets, and combine with a 3-5mm safety gap to build a multi-layered protection system.
I. Preventing Hand/Foot Entrapment: Physical Barrier + Cushioning
Treadmill Belt Sides: Adopt "stepped sealed side strips". The top features an arc-shaped protrusion to block foreign objects, the inner side uses soft silicone for cushioning, and the joint is rounded with a radius of ≥ R3.
Front and Rear Rollers: Install a transparent PC protective baffle at the front (with a bottom gap ≤ 1mm) and an elastic net with mesh size ≤ 5mm at the rear. Add a torque sensing device to the rollers-if a foreign object is entrapped, the treadmill will shut down immediately.
II. Preventing Child Entrapment: Isolation + Locking
Physical Isolation: Equip a foldable protective fence (height ≥ 80cm, made of aluminum frame and nylon mesh). Add a 3cm anti-slip protrusion strip along the edge of the running platform.
Operation Restriction: Set a child safety lock on the control panel (unlocked by long-pressing a specific button or entering a password). Install an infrared height sensor on the running platform-if a person with a height ≤ 1.2m is detected nearby, the treadmill will automatically lock.
III. Preventing Pet Entrapment: Blocking + Guiding
Anti-Drilling: Design a closed base (ground clearance ≤ 5cm, with soft rubber edges). Add pet-proof baffles on the sides of the treadmill, which connect to the base to form a closed area.
Anti-Tangling and Early Warning: Install hair collection grooves (with detachable brushes) on the inner side of the treadmill belt's side strips-when the belt operates, the brushes comb hair from the belt into the grooves for regular cleaning. Install an infrared motion sensor on the side-when a pet is detected approaching the treadmill belt area, the treadmill emits a low-volume prompt; if the pet continues to approach, it will reduce speed and gradually shut down.
IV. Collaborative Protection
All structures work with the safety gap, balancing safety and usability (e.g., easy-to-install/remove baffles, simple safety lock operation) to form a comprehensive protective barrier.
